FAQ - Newborn Session

Q) What is the best time for a newborn shoot?

A) The best time frame for a newborn photo-shoot would be when they are 5-20 days old. There are numerous reasons for this. First and foremost this is the period during which newborns are the most flexible and we can curl them up into a variety of poses. This is also the time when newborns sleep the most. This means quicker and more efficient newborn portraits and ultimately a wide range of creative poses. However, we can help create beautiful newborn photos for older babies too until the age of two months, but posing and styling would be restricted.

Q) How early should I book my slot?

A) Do confirm your booking 10-12 days in advance. As for a newborn photo-shoot, it is best to book before delivery. You can always reschedule if there’s a change in date.

Q) Do you provide clothing for newborn shoots?

A) We have a wide range of wraps, clothing and props that we use in our newborn shoots. You do not have to bring any material or props unless you exclusively wish to include items that hold special value for you and your family. For other member of family we would not be providing any outfits and please make sure to bring your own outfits for the family portraits.

Q) Where will the shoot take place?

A) You can choose where to hold the newborn photo-session. It can be at your home/premises, at our studio or at a location of your choice and is feasible. If you’d like us to choose the location, we’re only happy to help and we can discuss over a pre-shoot call.

Q) Can I suggest ideas for the shoot?

A) You are more than welcome to do so! We would love your input and we always strive to deliver what the client has in mind. Please note that we make it a point to have a discussion with the client before the shoot about the various set-ups and themes and make sure we are on the same page. This is an important part of our work flow and helps us plan in advance.

Q) Are you flexible with the time duration?

A) Yes we are! We do understand that your newborn might not be in the best mood and we mould our shoots around their schedule.

Q) I am worried about hygiene of the clothing and props that my baby will be around. Can you tell me more?

A) Since we deal with newborns, we take extra care to ensure hygiene. All the clothes, wraps and props are sanitized before and after every shoot. We make sure they are stored in closed boxes to prevent dust. Hygiene is on our top priority for our newborn shoots.

Q) I am a little concerned about the safety of the poses my baby will be posed in.

A) We do nothing to compromise the safety of our tiny newly born models and do not force them into any pose. We work with their natural tendencies and make use of the fact that newborns a few days old are extremely flexible and are used to curl up into cozy positions as they are used to in the womb.

Q) What kind of poses do you generally do?

A) We have a variety of bowl, basket and beanbag poses for newborn posing. Please note that we do not do any digital images with photoshopped backdrops and other elements. We encourage more natural photos to capture the personality of the newborn/baby in its most original spirit.

Q) Do you photograph babies who are a few months old?

A) We photograph babies of any age. However, do keep in mind that they are more active as they get older and may not be asleep during the session. We have a variety of poses pertaining to each age group, for e.g., baby over two months would have started rolling over and we take advantage of their milestones to create photographs for you. You can opt for a baby photo-shoot for your baby if older than two months.
